Mike Weir Charity Classic

From all appearances the first Mike Weir Charity Classic was a great success. PGA Tour Professionals and Celebrities from the Sports, Film, TV, and Music Industries were paired up with twenty foursomes. Each foursome played nine holes with a PGA Tour Professional and nine holes with a Celebrity. Mike even had help from Mother Nature who provided a beautiful sunny day! There has always been a void on the Monday of the Canadian Open. Many other PGA Tour Professionals hold charity events, the Charity Classic filled the Monday time slot and provided Mike with the opportunity to raise awareness and funds for his Foundation. The respect for Mike was obvious from the A-List of PGA Tour Professionals and Celebrities that gave up their time to support Mike's Foundation. The same can be said from the number of fans that also showed up. For many it was a great chance to see PGA Tour Professionals and various Celebrities up close. All of the golfers that were part of the twenty foursomes also need to be praised as each foursome paid $35,000 to participate in the Charity Classic. All money raised from the foursomes and from the $15 entrance fee paid by the fans went in support of the Mike Weir Foundation. From the time we spent at the Classic we are pretty confident that this was the first of what will be many Classics. We saw many of the PGA Tour Professionals and Celebrities taking time to sign autographs, many even took the time to have their picture taken with kids and families. They definitely brought "Class" to the Charity Classic.
