Right from the first single, "Yellow," going to No. 1 at rock radio in Canada to the British pop band's No. 1 single, "Talk," Canada has embraced the band. With concerts that sell out in a minute to police escorts at radio stations, Coldplay is well aware of Canada's devotion. The most recent album, X&Y, debuted at No. 1 in 32 countries, including Canada. Their current tour includes a stop at the 2006 JUNO Awards in Halifax.

The group won a 2003 JUNO Award for Alternative Album of the Year. On its third full-length k-os and The Dears' Murray Lightburn have joined the festivities.

This singer/pianist's arrival has been a rapid one. In 1999 her breakthrough album, When I Look In Your Eyes, won a Grammy for Best Jazz Vocal Performance and was the first jazz disc to be nominated for Album of the Year in 25 years. In 2001, The Look Of Love was a No. 1 bestseller in the US and a five-time platinum album in Canada. 2004's The Girl In The Other Room included six co-writes with husband Elvis Costello. The Toronto-based Blessed took home both a JUNO Award and Urban Music Awards in 2002 for the track "Love (African Woman)." Kardinal Offishall, which earned a 2005 JUNO Award nod for Reggae Recording of the Year.

Undaunted by endless piano recitals, competitions and exams, by her final year of high school in 2003, this Manitoba native had earned an ARCT in piano performance. Now, just a few years later, she has recorded a full-length CD, which opens with "Fireflies," a song, she says, that sets the tone for the entire album and "was healing for me to write."

Few artists who have just entered their 30s can boast of a performing career that spans almost 25 years. Alexis Puentes, the founder/leader of Alex Cuba Band, can. Coming to Canada in 1999 from Cuba, this project incorporates elements of jazz, pop and rock into a contemporary Cuban sound. It is his first without twin brother Adonis with whom he received a Juno nomination in 2003.

Garnet Armstrong - As art director of creative services for Universal Music Canada, Armstrong has worked with all kind of artists from multi-platinum rock acts The Tragically Hip and Matthew Good to punk/metal band Protest The Hero. He has a cool, innovative sense of design.

Rob Baker - The lead guitarist of the multi-platinum rockers The Tragically Hip released an album with the side project Stripper's Union Local 518 in 2005. Back in his university days at Kingston, ON's Queen's University, he studied visual art, and later designed many of the band's t-shirts and album art.

Susan Michalek - Michalek, who works with Universal Music Canada in Toronto, was co-winner of a JUNO Award in 2004. She and Garnet Armstrong (director) received the award in the album design category for their work on Jann Arden's Love Is the Only Soldier.

Will Ruocco - Ruocco has created designs for rock legends such as The Rolling Stones, Neil Young, The Guess Who and Sting. He began working with The Tragically Hip after his design work caught the attention of guitarist Rob Baker. Most well known for creating sought after concert posters, Ruocco has designed everything from album covers and event tees to tour merchandise.

Rich Terfry - On his new album, Secret House Against The World, Rich Terfry, aka Buck 65, takes his eclectic mix of hip hop, folk, jazz, rock and the kitchen sink, and adds his unique vocal style - "a deep throaty spoken-word approach, bordering on rap," according to Time Canada. Buck 65 is the winner of a 2004 JUNO Award for Alternative Album of the Year.

Micah Meisner - Meisner is a long time video collaborator with k-os and The Love Movement, creating hit videos such as "Crabbuckit", "Man I Used to Be" and "B-Boy Stance". Metric, Buck 65 and K'Naan are amongst the list of other Canadian stars he's worked with.

The band is presently working on its new studio album with producer Bob Rock.

Gord Downie - The singer/lyricist/guitarist for one of Canada's most successful rock bands The Tragically Hip, the Kingston, ON native has also released two solo albums, Coke Machine Glow in 2001 and Battle of the Nudes in 2003.

Allan Reid - Toronto-based record executive is the senior vice-president of A&R at Universal Music Canada. His label represents stars such as The Tragically Hip, Jully Black, Sam Roberts, Hawksley Workman and more.

Shawn Marino - This international marketing manager at Universal Music Canada has worked with numerous artists, among them The Tragically Hip and Sam Roberts.

Christopher Mills - An artist/director, Mills has worked with such indie and major label artists as Interpol, Broken Social Scene, Mandy Moore, The Tragically Hip, Tegan and Sara, Elefant and Modest Mouse. He received three MTV nominations for Modest Mouse's "Float On" and toured with The Tragically Hip creating visuals and documenting the journey.
