Pip has composed music for many years, in the styles of pop song, art song, cabaret,
choral, rock, punk, reggae, noise, funk, art metal, folk and just about anything else. He and his band Varsol met with some notoriety in the late eighties in Toronto, Canada. During this time Pip created chamber/ pop songs as well, which is currently his focus. His songwriting spans two decades and he has over a hundred works registered with SOCAN. Pip is currently working on his eleventh album as a solo writer/performer. Also a playwright, Pip has a stock of original theatre songs. Some of his plays are available from the Playwrights Union of Canada (www.puc.ca). Pip plays a Goya classical, and a Godin nylon-string solid-body electric. After a few stints of living in Europe and one long soujourn in the music mecca of Peterborough, Ontario where his son was born, Pip is back living in Toronto where he bases his performing, recording and selling of original music. Pip is distributed by Marginal Distribution (www.marginalbook.com). Previously he was distributed by COMA (Canadian On-Line Musician's Association). Previous to that, he was distributed by AVA Music, and before that it was Amatish Music. Pip has opened for Ian Tamblyn and James Keelaghan (although his music is not like theirs!), and continues to perform live around town. Pip played for the famous all-musician Morningstars Hockey Club during the 2000-2001 season. That year, the Morningstars won the coveted Exclaim! Music Magazine Cup. |
